Most-Loved: January 2016

Most-Loved: January 2016

Did someone forget to tell January that it was supposed to feel like the longest month ever following the back-to-back holiday seasons? January sure did fly by. I’m not too sad to see it go though, and look forward to February being nice to me! After stewing over some of my favorite things from the month, I figured I’d share with you! To begin, of course we’ll start with the books I read in January, for my Reading Challenge 2016, and which were my favorites! 10 Lb. Penalty by Dick…

@ the Moment: Start 2016

@ the Moment: Start 2016

January! Where have you gone? Before we know it, we’ll be doing the Christmas shopping and working on our 2017 resolutions! Okay, a bit of sarcasm and exaggeration there, but these days sure are flying by. This month has been busy, but the good kind of busy for the most part. Plenty of days and nights spent with family, several days of working cows and music! I’m going to share my latest and greatest playlist that has been streaming through my ear buds most of this month. It’s been far…

New Year, Resolutions Made

New Year, Resolutions Made

Well hello, 2016. To my surprise, I have yet to mess up the date this year. That’s got to be a sign that 2016 will be my year, right??? Last year, I shared some of my resolutions, and y’all did such a good job of holding me to them. < insert applause for you > Whether you care or not about my resolutions, knowing I put them on the internet, where they can’t go away, kept me a little more thoughtful of them throughout the year. Particularly, when it came to the Reading…

2015 in review

2015 in review

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2015 annual report for this blog. Here’s an excerpt: The concert hall at the Sydney Opera House holds 2,700 people. This blog was viewed about 14,000 times in 2015. If it were a concert at Sydney Opera House, it would take about 5 sold-out performances for that many people to see it. Down to the Last Minute

Down to the Last Minute

Prior to my recent Fave Photo Friday: Edition No. 30 post, it had been a little while since I had last posted. But I do have some pretty valid reasons for my absence. For one, this time of year had me plenty busy helping my company with Adopt-A-Family, a Family Services Association event. For a tiny office of only 15 employees, we were able to help 3 families, 15 individuals, of which a whopping 10 were children under the age 11. I couldn’t be more proud of a group of…

And the Reading Continues

And the Reading Continues

To begin, Half-Priced Books is a dangerous place. Very dangerous. I dropped by because traffic was horrible, then decided I might as well look for some Louis L’Amour books I don’t already have, and then all of a sudden, I have a basket fully from all different shelves. If anyone needs a library card for my library, let me know! Ok, now back to the regular broadcasting update: Reading Challenge 2015 UPDATE A week or two ago I recapped my year of reading thus far, or at least the last month…

Only in San Antonio

Only in San Antonio

Oh San Antonio, how happy you make me. While at the little sister’s basketball game last night, I happened to notice an odd picture in my news feed. Oddly enough, the picture of this wall was the only thing I could load in that gym. But I’m so thrilled I saw it. It had a note that for every post on Instagram with this featured and #ILoveTacos and #ILoveTacosSoMuch in the caption, $1 would be donated to San Antonio’s children charities. Not only do I love tacos and cool wall…

Fave Photo Friday: Edition No. 29

Fave Photo Friday: Edition No. 29

A couple of weeks ago, I had the opportunity to take engagement pictures for this wonderful couple, Eric and Kelsey. They were so much fun! Even Ellie got in on the action acting as our guard and my assistant, obviously. With all of the green grass around, it is hard to believe this picture was taken in November! This had to be a quick post, about to head off on a road trip to Louisiana. Let’s pray that my Aggies BTHO lsu tomorrow. Fingers and toes crossed!

Thankful.

Thankful.

Contented. Grateful. Indebted. Overwhelmed. Pleased. Satisfied. Thankful. That I all am. I use the phrase “there aren’t enough words to …” often. I was about to begin this post with that phrase followed by “to describe how thankful I am for everything I have in this world and up in heaven.” But then I thought how silly of a phrase that is to say. There are millions of words in the English dictionary, surely there are enough. So I looked up “thankful” in the thesaurus, and the above were some…

I Won’t Be a Liar

I Won’t Be a Liar

Dramatic? Yes. Click-bait? Yes, guilty as charged. But now that you are here, by the end of the year, I won’t be a liar. At the beginning of 2015, I had set myself up with the lofty goal to read 30 books before the end of the year. What was a I thinking/smoking/drinking? During the first few months I read quite a bit, but then somewhere between then and a little over a month ago I forgot all about reading and was too hooked on Spotify and podcasts to look…
