Fave Photo Friday: Edition No. 27

Of late, I have been in the Pearl Brewery area taking pictures for Dhruvi and her blog, Stilettos And Sequins. We’ve been meeting there around 7:30 in the mornings, before work, so she can post on her site twice a week or so. I’ve not only enjoyed the experience of taking pictures there, but the atmosphere is so perfect. In the mornings, it’s quiet and beautiful. Even through the fog, we’ve had to deal with the past couple of times. There are several places to grab coffee or breakfast. Hopefully…

Fave Photo Friday: Edition No. 23

Woohoo! It’s Friday and I’m posting again for the 3rd time this week! Baby steps :) Anyhow, if you checked out yesterday’s post, you’ll recognize this picture. But I wanted to post it as my Fave Photo Friday, because there is just so many things I love about this picture. First off, the colors are so bold and vibrant. The bluer than blue sky last Friday made for such a perfect backdrop on so many of those pictures I took. Secondly, the angle I thought to take this photo with…

Juxtaposition

Juxtaposition

Juxtaposition is precisely how to describe my life sometimes. Here, on Tuesday, I posted how dearly I love taking pictures of cattle and being out in the wide open spaces, and then below, you’ll find my most recent pictures of the concrete jungle that surrounds me from 8-5. Ok, concrete jungle is quite the overstatement. Actually my view is quite beautiful most days out of the year. Sometimes I find it hard to keep up with my photography habit. Not that I don’t love taking pictures, it has just, lately, it’s felt…

Happy Frida…… uh well I guess I’m a day late and a dollar short but I bring to you my fave photo of the week. This I actually took several months ago downtown on a little field trip with a coworker.  I absolutely love that we have at least one alley that is sort of iconic. I mean it literally is called Peacock Alley. :) And how awesome was my timing to have found this worker outside when I happened by. He was also gracious enough to, without being asked, sort…

A Day Like This

A Day Like This

Eighty-five degrees and a sky so blue you couldn’t have even imagined it more beautiful. Yeah that’s what I had to deal with on my lunch break. Armed with my brand new Nikon D5200, a co-worker and I ventured out of our glass building for a field trip of sorts. We’ve done this once before a couple of months ago and had a great time. So now that I really have a grand excuse for needing practice, we thought it would be a perfect day to see what kind of…

Oh Sepia.. Chronicles of my Love/Hate Relationship

Oh Sepia.. Chronicles of my Love/Hate Relationship

Let’s be honest, in today’s my computer can do it all society we have been trying to imitate the style of vintage photographs. It’s funny how our society is never happy with what we currently have but as soon as it can be called retro it’s cool. Anyhow, I feel that one of the hardest tones to achieve is sepia. Like black and white, there are many ways to accomplish sepia. You can make them as soft or as harsh as you feel necessary. When done right, sepia has a…

Take me downtown

Take me downtown

Isn’t amazing where beauty lies in our lives? Here I have been working for almost three months in downtown San Antonio and I am just now venturing out into the streets with my camera. Sort of a shame to think of all I had missed. I am doing that no more. Once a week, weather permitting of course, I hope to go out and capture what this city has to offer. There are so many shapes, colors, lines, patterns all over that it is information overload for my brain at…
