I like my coffee black.

My dad should feel proud today.

I have officially weaned myself off of creamers and any additives to my coffee. Well at least at home. Thanks to HEB’s amazingly yummy and aromatic Pecan coffee. If you haven’t tried it, you must! Pecan Coffee

After the weekend I have had, 4, yes four, cups of coffee were needed prior to leaving my apartment. What a wonderful weekend it was spending time with both family and friends. I made a long-overdue trip to College Station on Friday. And of course visited one of my most favorite dance halls with my dearest friends. It always amazes me how easily I can slip back into the college version of myself when I am in that town.

I know I am only 2 years out of college, but still, college-Alyx and paying-bills-Alyx are two very different people! So understand the emphasis and don’t argue with it ;)

Another point you must note in order to fully understand my persona is that if you give me good friends and a dance floor, then put a cold bottle of beer in my hand, yeah it’s going to be a good night.

Well after a relaxing weekend in Aggieland, I headed home to spend some quality time with my family. Quality time usually includes: hugs lots of hugs, kisses from Grandma and Grandpa, filling cups of beer from the kegerator, talking, storytelling, and gentle harassment from everyone you are related to for one reason or another.

Yesterday happened to be a two-fer for my family. Obviously it was Mother’s day for my mom, aunts and Grandma. But it was also my Grandma Tschirhart’s 79th birthday! One more year til the big party!!

So after lots of eating and talking, I headed home to the good ole apartment. And you know what? I went to bed. Yes it was only 8:15 in the p.m. but man it felt good. And even after all of that sleep, I still needed those 4 cups to get going this morning. Sweat pants + a hoodie + a cup of coffee on my patio would have been sublime. But no I am settling with the pencil-skirt, sleeveless shirt combo. Oh not enough people explained how much of a pain dressing up for work can be. It all looks like fun in the movies, but when you have to think and rack your brain in the mornings over these outfit combinations you Sisterlearn the truth.

LUCKILY, I think I have a solution for this. At least for 12 weeks beginning in September. My lovely sister, Sydney, will be sharing my apartment a couple days a week while she is student teaching. Therefore, instead of charging her rent (who would do that to their poor sister?!?) I’ll just make her lay my clothes out for me :) Sounds like a brilliant plan!

Sydney, I hope you are cool with this…

And PS.. this beautiful girl to the right in this picture is Sydney :) >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

  1. We don’t need the coffee but it sure helps… and yes, I am proud of you!
