Goodness gracious, what have my co-workers gotten me into!
Well it all started out as fun and games. Shelby and I were tasked with bringing a little Christmas cheer and entertainment to our luncheon. We started by deciding to do an Ugly Christmas tie/scarf exchange. Then we came up with the idea of taking the traditional “Twelve Days of Christmas” song and customizing it for our company. It was a great success! We were pretty proud of our song. We practiced for days. Then the day comes to actually sing it front of everyone. In a restaurant. With other people, besides our co-workers, in ear shot.
Oh Lordie. Those who know me, know I’m not a singer. Ha but we performed our 4 minute or so song in front of our little audience. Glad we got through it without completely breaking down in laughter. Honestly, I’m not sure how I feel about my singing, but it’s just too funny not to share. Thankfully my co-worker, shortened it up to be just the last verse!
Twelve Days of Christmas in the Oil Business
On the Twelfth day of Christmas,
My true love gave to me
Twelve rigs a-drilling,
Eleven land owners changing,
Ten permits approving,
Nine scientists logging,
Eight swabbers swabbing,
Seven wells now producing,
Six seismic shoots a-processing,
And a well called the Bernadette Monte!
To someone not familiar with the oil and gas industry, the acronyms and some of the lines may not make any sense but it does still carry the same tune as the original! I must admit, my office is pretty fun :)
Hope this provides everyone with a good little laugh! Happy Tuesday y’all!
