Do you sometimes randomly start thinking about a song, then listen to it several times in a row? And later in day do you hear it on the radio? Oh my goodness, this has been happening to me so often! I can understand this happening with newer music, but the kinds of songs that usually pop in my head randomly are the country gold kind of oldies. Most recently, this was the case with “From a Jack to a King”. Yesterday, on my way to work the catchy little chorus started rolling off the tip of my tongue. I hadn’t even been listening to music. In the mornings, I usually take the opportunity to listen to sports radio or an audio book while on my way to work. But then again, my mind tends to jump from subject to subject. And all of a sudden I had Ricky Van Shelton and Roger Miller on my mind.
This particular song was fresh on my mind after attending one of my cousin’s weddings this weekend. “From a Jack to a King” is one of Grandpa’s all-time faves. Not to poke fun at Grandpa, but rather highlight the significance of have a song being one of his favorites, I must say the man is 81-years-old. A handsome 81 at that! But the point is, after 81 years, it’s kind of hard to make a list of your favorite songs or at least I would imagine it being so. Maybe I’ll have to consult with him later and do a post about his top 10 favorite songs of all time. Hmm.
Anyhow, after a couple of beverages, we began serenading each other with these lyrics. And let’s be honest, is there anything more fun than singing and dancing with family?
So after I had listened to the song at least five times before 10 AM, I heard it again on my way back to work from lunch. I was actually delayed a little too. So if I would have had to spend the extra 15 minutes at the AT&T store, I would have not heard that song on KKYX. I just think that’s a little freaking but totally awesome at the same time. Does this prove I have some sort of future-telling powers or tendencies?!?! MAYBE!!
Well this post was going to be short, fun and sweet, but then I kind of decided since it’s been so long since my last musical post (3 months is way too long!!!), I would go ahead and link my @ the Moment playlist from my Spotify. This playlist is where I throw songs that make me happy or ones that I happen to like at the moment, hence the name of the playlist. I’ll go ahead and list them below with links to YouTube too, in case you aren’t a Spotify user.
