Disclaimer: I wasn’t planning on posting today, but Conway Twitty made me.
Do you ever find yourself listening to the radio, or Pandora, or Spotify and one song in particular keeps making its way to the top of the queue? Does it ever seem like you hear one song daily for a week straight?
This has been happening to me since Monday, and I both love it and hating it at the same time. As I have mentioned multiple times, I rarely listen to the radio, due to my fixation with Audible, but when I do, it is either KKYX 680 AM or KCWM 1460 AM on my tuner.
We were on our way back from HEB Monday evening listening to my kind of music on 680. Then “Slow Hand” by Conway Twitty began playing. Now Conway Twitty has never ranked high on my list, mostly because I already have so many favorites and because Dad doesn’t really care for him. But also I find so many of his lyrics to be awkward and perhaps a tad creepy you night say. If you don’t understand what I am talking about, google the lyrics to some of his songs. “You’ve Never Been This Far Before” proves my point fairly well. Yeah they may not be as explicit in comparison to those tracks put out on the mainstream radio these days, but come on, this seems racy to me. But I’m a millennial, what do I know? ;) Also watch videos of him performing live, don’t you think they help my argument?
Before I go any farther, I’ll admit that I didn’t know The Pointer Sisters were the original artists on “Slow Hand”. The things I learn when I start putting these posts together!
Anyhow since Monday, I have heard this song both on the radio and Pandora at least 8-10 times. No exaggeration. And even though I may find the wording to be a bit creepy, it’s too dang catchy of a tune to not sing along to every verse!
So let me know, do y’all have the same thing happen to y’all? And what are your thoughts on Conway Twitty? Comment below with your favorite song, or better yet his weirdest ones!
Happy Thursday y’all!
