Birthday Fun / Turning Twenty-seven

Birthday Fun / Turning Twenty-seven -

With the birthday fun had yesterday, I felt the urge to share some of my happiness. After all, I’m trying to milk my birthday week for all it’s got. Spent last weekend at the lake, had supper cooked for me on Monday evening, birthday celebrations at work and home yesterday. What more happiness will this week bring me?!?

Goodness, the lake was absolutely beautiful this past weekend. With school almost back in session and football/volleyball started, their absence was noticeable. In just a couple of days, we’ll be back out there making the most of it. That is, unless the weather decides otherwise. And that would be ok too!

Birthday Fun

When your birthday falls during the week, it is sometimes hard to figure out just what you want to do for dinner. Or maybe that has more to do with the fact that I really like to get into bed before 8:30 every night!

Nonetheless, I decided on one of my favorites, Stella Public House over in Southtown. You may remember but I mentioned Stella in my Top 5 Friday: Downtown SA Eats post. I

hadn’t been in so long since I no longer work downtown, and I missed it dearly. Stella sure didn’t let us down. We got there just in time for happy hour. $2 off small plates, hence the Brussels sprouts, bread and TWO mac and cheese plates! Oh not to mention the $5 glass of Malbec, oh so good. We tried the Watermelon Arugula Salad and the Southtown Pepperoni pizza. It was such a wonderful meal. We tried the Bourbon Peach Cobbler, but it was a disappointment in comparison to all of the other plates.

After such a great birthday, I was sure the day after would be a let down. However, I was oh so wrong. At lunch, I took the opportunity to go to Barnes and Noble to use a gift card I received for my birthday. Not having visited a Barnes and Noble in a long while, I thought I’d maybe be able to get 2-3 books with $50. I was so so wrong.

Here’s my haul. I walked out paying right at $20.

I’ve come a long way since I was only reading westerns. As much as I love my Louis L’Amours, I have been LOVING all of the different books I have read in the last year or so. Have you read any of these? Which books have you added to your bookshelf? I’m thinking a Hot Reads post needs to come sooner rather than later! What do you think?

P.S. isn’t this card the cutest?!?!
