It sure has been a lovely last couple of weeks. I do love these rainy days we’ve been having. With the weekend being soggy for the most part, I spent most of my weekend indoors, baking and reading and writing. In the last couple of months, I have become attached to my journaling habit. And that has only heightened since I have introduced myself to fountain pens. So with February winding down, I’m going to take a moment to share some of my things that have interested me.

Ever since I started journaling, I have been intrigued to begin writing letters, so much so that I actually just signed up for a pen pal program! It has been many, many years since I have had a pen pal. Have you ever had a pen pal?
With all of this in mind, I went to Target and bought some stationary. This particular card is from the brand, Green-Inspired. I found the colors and simplicity to be delightful. I have only used one out of the ten, but plan to go through them before too long. You want to know a little something about me that I’m pretty sure I have never shared before? I have always wanted to design greeting cards. Perhaps one day, you’ll see a section of greeting cards by Sheerheart at your local HEB ;). Where do you buy your stationary or blank greeting cards from? Which brands do you love?
I believe I mentioned this fountain pen in my January Favorites post. I have several more in my collection, but this one always screams elegance. If you haven’t picked up a fountain pen ever or not in some time, I highly recommend you trying it out. I also suggest you take a look at Goulet Pens. They are super-great people, who love pens and love people who love pens! Here is a great link to pens they recommend for beginners.
Well moving on from there, The Thorn Birds by Colleen McCullough. This is a book Mom once recommended to me. I had a paperback copy on my bookshelf for years, but then I happened across this hardback edition at a Half Priced Books awhile ago. Instantly, I remembered Mom’s suggestion, and moved this book up on my to-read list. I’ll be sure to give an update once I have completed, but you know me, I’m reading two other books as well! Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier and Come Sundown by Nora Roberts. Reading has been such an adventure for me! As much as I love being outside working cows, or being at the ranch, I do love how rainy days give me extra time to read, write and bake!
Speaking of baking, I tried some recipes out that were new to me, and they worked! Cinnamon Raisin Bread and one of the best Carrot Cakes I have ever made! Next time I bake these, I’ll have to take pictures and share with you! Although, I must warn you, my tiny kitchen I cook out of these days is not the most ideal for picture taking. So understand that your imagination will have some work to do too!
Later this week, I’ve got some pictures to share with you from our last adventure on the ranch. I’m sure you’ll laugh at some. And then also I did take some iPhone pictures of my cinnamon rolls I have mentioned before, so that recipe is coming too.
