Woah, it’s been a hot minute since my last Tuesday’s Things post. This summer has been a trip. Wonderful and overwhelming all at the same time. Trying to learn how to utilize my time better to accomplish all that I’d like, while having a job, and trying to sleep eight hours each night…
It’s been years since I have posted regularly. I hate that. But then I recognize how my life has changed. Before, I was perfectly fine having chips and salsa for dinner, staying out until 2 a.m. and waking up a couple hours later for work. Keeping up with my blog was a priority and passion.
In comparison, now, I’m spending my time outside of work brainstorming ranch plans, figuring out what to make for dinner and dessert, and enjoying life with my favorite person. Well he makes it on my short list! (haha)
Although I get to missing pretty hard on this ole blog, I wouldn’t trade any of it. Except, darnit, I wish I could learn how to either make time stand still, or some time management skills.
But back to what I’m here for today:
For along time now, I have been raving about Amazon’s Audible. I have been a member of that for over 6 years now and will continue for the foreseeable future. I have talked about Audible, a whole lot on here.
But recently, I have really gotten into using my Kindle and Amazon Fire to read books. Less than a year ago, I would have told you that wasn’t my thing. I preferred either physical books or audiobooks. However, after my sisters and I started a little book club reading the Kindle First Reads books, I got hooked. The convenience of having so many books at my finger tips is substantial.
Also, if you haven’t downloaded the Kindle app on your phone, I recommend you do that as well. There have been several times that I have found myself waiting unexpectedly on something or someone, and I have been able to hop into the app and at make the most out of that otherwise lost time.
Kindle First Reads is an opportunity for any Prime members to download a book for free out of the handful they provide each month. In July they are actually offering TWO free books! These are digital downloads, but they do also offer a special if you want the hardcover versions.
This month, we downloaded What You Did by Claire McGowan. It was the Psychological Suspense novel. I’ll have to tell you more about how we run our little club, but that is for another day. This book was fantastic. Finished-it-in-less-than-two-days kind of fantastic. Here are some of my other past favorite First Reads:
- P.S. From Paris by Marc Levy
- The Overdue Life of Amy Byler by Kelly Harms
- River Bodies by Karen Katchur
- False Step by Victoria Helen Stone
- A Beautiful Poison by Lydia Kang
- The Rescue by Steven Konkoly
The more I can grow my collection of attire that supports the cattle industry, heck any agricultural industry, the happier I get. Below are two of my newest additions.
There are more, but I wear them all of the time, so they are in the wash. Next time, I’ll be sure to share more.
Speaking of Herefords…
As I mentioned earlier, one of the things that takes up the most of my time outside of work, is increasing my involvement with my family’s cattle ranch, Tschirhart Enterprises. This year, we launched our website, as well as our Facebook page.
And to add to that, Elliott and I have also partnered on new cattle to increase our herd.
As shown in the picture above with my cow shirt, I have loved pairing my tees with sheer cardigans. For one, it dresses up a t-shirt a bit, and secondly, it does add a layer. My office is often super cold and just having this sheer cardigan makes it much more comfortable. Here are some of my favorite ones: Orange Flower, Colorful, Floral, Red White
With back-to-school season in full swing, I wanted to try out these felt tipped markers to see if they were worthy of recommendation. A 12-pack for $7.99 and so far, they have easily met my expectations! I’ll have to see how long they last until they dry out.
Is it ridiculous that I am sharing a bottle of cinnamon as a favorite of mine? But seriously, even Elliott will attest to this being the best cinnamon we have ever tasted. It has taken our smoothies and oatmeal bowls to the next level. And for $3.26 (via Subscribe & Save), you can’t beat it!
Instagrammers to Follow
I have found more and more that I am keeping my follows to accounts that make me happier, educate me and show me things I wouldn’t normally have the opportunity to see. Deleted the stuff that made me want to spend money on stuff I didn’t need, deleted the accounts that featured gaudy and wasteful lifestyles and focused on the accounts that were realistic.
Here are some of my absolute favorite Instagram accounts that I follow:
Recently I have been doing a lot of dreaming about what I would love to have in my dream house. For fun I’ll share with you too! All pictures are via Houzz, which Elliott actually recommended I check out.
I have been really into the thought of not only having a library, but a shelving along my hallways.
And then because the kitchen is my home, besides the cow pens of course:
And then because I couldn’t stop appreciating the window above the doorway.
Congratulations! You have made it to the end of this post. Thank you for stopping by for a visit. Hoping your Tuesday has been fantastic. Until next time.
Going to leave you with this gem:
